BARDINO

(Douro, Portugal)

The aim of the Bardino is to craft the wines of the soul and thus was born the Best Enemies Project, headed by Joao Pires. Without pretensions and prejudices, Bardino goal is to revive a forgotten 'art': drinking wine for the simple pleasure of drinking! BARDINO is a wine that keeps in mind the spirit of the Best Enemies whose unrest was making a wine that represented us and respected the territory.

Douro Vinho Tinto, “Bardino”

50% Tempranillo, 50% Tinta Barroca, Mourisco Tinto, Touriga Franca, Rufette, and many more

The wine is a field blend from family held vineyards planted in schist soils at high elevation with many being old vines (36-91 years old). The grapes are hand-harvested between September and October, vineyard sorted, with a combination of de-stemming and whole-cluster. The wine spends 15-20 days macerating before spontaneous fermentation begins in stainless steel lasting eight days without temperature control. Aged in 225L barrique (3 year-old) for 18 months. Unfiltered.
