Morgon Cuvée L’Auguste
100% Gamay
Morgon Cuvée L’Auguste, produced by Vignobles Bodillard, is a rare, natural expression of AOC Morgon, named after “L’Auguste,” Marie-Louise’s husband and Renaud’s great-grandfather. Made from two parcels of 100-year-old Gamay vines planted in 1902 and 1908, it comes from sandy granite soils with south/southwest exposure.
Hand-harvested fruit undergoes an exceptionally long whole-cluster carbonic maceration in oak barrels, then ages 24 months in neutral oak (previously used barrels). No additives are used during élevage, with only a small amount of sulfites added at bottling. Limited to 1,140 numbered bottles, this cuvée is best served around 60°F (16°C) and can cellar for up to 30 years. 14.5% ABV.
