OENO (ee- no) is owned by Amy Atwood, who also operates a wine import and distribution company, Amy Atwood Selections. She has sought out top quality vineyards in Sonoma and a like-minded CA winemaker who makes these wines to her specifications (start with pristine fruit, then use native yeasts and neutral oak). Oeno wines are made in Healdsburg, California.
Oeno is the ancient Greek word for wine, as well as the name of a goddess known for turning water into wine.
Russian River Valley Rose
78% Pinot Noir, 18% Zinfandel, 4% Carignan
100% estate grown fruit hand harvested from separate lots, pressed minimally to preserve the wine’s pale salmon color and co-fermented in stainless steel and racked to neutral barrels.
Russian River Valley Chardonnay
Planted in the late 1980s, the Oak Bench Block Vineyard overlooks the River Front Pinot Noir block. Vines are planted on a north to south orientation with canopy management on the morning side only, taking full advantage of this region’s midday sun balanced by daily drops in temperature and frequent fog. One third of the wine did not go through malolactic fermentation, preserving this Chardonnay’s fresh apple aroma and flavor. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
Sourced from head-trained “old-vine” Cabernet, 100% estate-grown on the Old Redwood block vineyard. Grapes were 100% de-stemmed and whole-berry pressed, and the wine was fermented with native yeasts only. Matured in 100% neutral French Oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
Fruit for this Russian River Pinot came from three distinct blocks with the eldest planted 20 years ago and features a sprawling canopy, which allows for late ripening and intense color and structure. Picked in late August on the 24th, which is the earliest harvest date in this vineyard’s history. A native yeast ferment was boosted by an inoculated mid ferment to help the young wine finish strong.
