Matzinger Davies Wine Company was established in 2006 with the intention of producing wines with a resonant voice speaking to their geographic origin, varietal typicity and season.
Chehalem Mountain, Chardonnay
100% Chardonnay. The grapes were hand harvested on September 22th, 2014 gently whole bunch pressed and sent directly to barrels for primary fermentation. The wine was encouraged through malolactic fermentation and kept on lees for 10 months prior to bottling in August 2015. The palate is textural and rich but shows restraint and containment with line drive acidity and keel. Succulent and nutty with notes of lemon curd, blood orange, saffron and spice.
Columbia Gorge, Sauvignon Blanc, "Gorgeous Savvy"
100% Sauvignon Blanc. The fruit was hand harvested on August 31st, whole bunch pressed and portions fermented and aged in a concrete egg, jacketed stainless steel, cigar-shaped barrel and neutral oak barrels. After primary fermentation, the wine was aged for 6 months on light lees and bottled on April 27, 2017. The 2016 Gorgeous Savvy opens with lifted and loud aromas of green apple, honey dew melon, sweet pea flowers and lemon verbena. One gets the sense that if a lemon, tangerine and grapefruit where ever combined into one it might very well sing close to this.
Eola-Amity Hills, Pinot Noir
