Il Colle del Fante

(Toscana, Italy)

Situated along the trail from Montalcino to the Sant Antimo Abbey, you’ll find the Ventolaio farmhouse. Luigi inherited the company in 1988 from his father and since the early 1990s, along with his wife Maria and two sons, renovated the traditional estate farmhouse, where they now call home, and expanded the vineyards. They currently have 8 hectares of Brunello di Montalcino, 2 hectares of Rosso di Montalcino and 4 hectares of Sant Antimo, many of them situated around the property, which itself sits on a hill, surrounded by hundred-year old forests. It wasn’t until 2000 that they started marketing their own labels, mainly because Luigi wanted to keep true to the history and hard work of past generations and the belief that a wine should be geniuine and pure.
